So I just finished my piece for the Mutation Show happening at Black Maria Gallery this Saturday, August 15th. As you can see above, I decided to work on another 10-inch Mad*L. More pics can be seen on my Flickr page. I really enjoy working on Mad*Ls as the flat surfaces really make it easier for me to mirror my designs across the figure. But since I wanted this one to be a bit different than what I usually do, I added a wood-looking base under the Totem design. Not to distract too much from the wood, I kept the color palette simple- just black and red. This is also the first large piece that I used cel vinyl paint exclusively on, as well as a new satin acrylic varnish coat. I’m glad this guy is finally done, and not a moment too soon. So if you’re in the Silverlake/Glendale area this Saturday, I highly recommend checking this show out as there will be a lot of awesome customs from a bunch of talented artists.
